Anesthesia for Children
Anesthesiology is crucial in the treatment of pediatric patients. Please read the Pediatric FAQ section for more detailed explanations and answers to your questions.
Our anesthesiologists are experienced in all areas of pediatric anesthesia before, during, and after surgery. We also have wide experience providing anesthesia for procedures outside the O.R. Our absolute top priority is the safety of your child. Making your child's experience as stress-free as possible is also a top priority. Finally, it is important to make the parents as relaxed and comfortable as possible during this stressful period.
Parents are allowed to be with their child at all times prior to surgery. In most non-emergent cases, one parent may accompany his or her child to the operating room and may be present during the induction (start) of anesthesia. Once the child is asleep, the accompanying parent will be escorted to the waiting area. During surgery, parents are asked to remain in the waiting area. As soon as the surgeon indicates, parents may join their child in the recovery room.
